I don't even notice the latency (maybe a tiny bit, when I turn up the noise gate of the amp sim and play something percussive), but I'm still looking for ways to get lower latency, even though it is already below my regular setup. But when it comes to amp sims, I can't get over the fact that Reaper is reporting a roundtrip latency of 3.8ms and an additional 64 samples of plugin delay compensation. So usually the amp is aroung 3m away from me, which is around 10ms of latency. The last time I literally put the amp into a different room and left the door slightly open.

This little guy is pretty loud considering my current living situation and even when using my closed headphones for monitoring, I prefer to put the amp some distance away from me. Many times when I have (20 tracks or over project) and drop hits in I get message saying that 'disk is too slow' or that 'audio engine was not able to produce all data'.

My regular setup consists of an SM57 in front of a little 15W tube amp combo with a 12" speaker. Im having this really annoying problem with my computer (2011 iMac 4gb RAM Intel i5) or with Logic Pro 9.

I'm trying out Neural DSP amp sims at the moment, because I like the sound and I'm thinking about ways to make the creative process in my humble home studio more convenient.
